From the "What ARE hotdogs, anyway!?" file...

I went to Friendly's for lunch today and was reading the menu. The best part is noticing those little food warning labels under foods with things that people might be allergic to. Like, under M&Ms it says 'may contain peanuts' but, for some reason, the same warning is not given under Recess Pieces.

The oddest one I saw, though, was on the kid's menu under hotdog it read 'contains milk'

I've never actually read a hotdog recipe, but I was under the impression that they were simply a mostly bland sausage (they may be tasty, but you must admit that as far as sausages go they're pretty bland in comparison) made from various meat trimmings. I never even considered that my hotdogs might contain milk... how very odd...

Hrm. Well, I know with the peanuts warnings, sometimes the recipe does not include peanuts, but the machinery that makes the food occasionally handles or just gets within spitting distance of a peanut. Since people are alleric, they put the warning on there. Maybe the milk thing is the same way?
